tanzy and I drove down to an early dinner at Ptifire pizza and met up with I guess 9 other people? More than expected, which was neat :D I didn't catch everyone's name (real or lj) though it did include cains_underoos![[info]](http://l-stat.livejournal.com/img/user_ontd.gif?v=92){kind=small}
ihateclooney, zombielove74, zeddscat and bdbdb and her friend. Aside from it taking way too long for tanzy's salad to arrive (and even then it didn't give us a time crunch, just an unusually long time) it wasn't too shabby, plus Jason Alexander was there too :DAfter dinner, a few of us had cupcakes from a cupcake bakery right on the way to the theater (yummy!) before heading over to the El Portal. It looked nice on the inside but man, seats needed to be revamped, and badly!
There was a good cellist before and Coco Peru was hysterical, I don't know if you could really call her a "Mistress of Ceremonies" since she did an intro number and did a closing bit but nothing in between) and had a good voice!
Anyway, the plays were a mixed bag. Most were humorous, some a bit more serious and they ran the gamut of topics related to gay marriage, from the definitions of marriage to adoption to whether you can count this fight as a civil rights fight to two just about two couples. Some were head scratchers (Brave New Words, ultimately about redefining marriage in the dictionary sense) were good but too way too long to figure out what was going one and one was pure WTF (a nun and her mother superior were going to run off to marry and were interrupted by a vampire!Jesus of sorts and while funny was definitely WTFy. The last one was an actual exchanging of vows where everyone who had been in the plays served as the audience. Most of us were starting to tear up. The acting was good all the way around, some of the plays just needed some tightening up.
As for Zach Quinto, he had all of five lines, and was probably on stage longer as a guest at the wedding in the last play than he was in his own bit. Hopefully the others who went went because they also had an interest in the subject or the cause, because otherwise I think they'd have been disappointed with how little stage time he actually had.
Post-show, we set to find the ZQ and had success!
I didn't get a solo shot, because there were so many of us and we weren't the only fangirls there so I didn't really want to take up too much of his time. It's funny, he's real sweet and quite animated to talk to, but take a picture and it's total blank look! I did get an autograph later. I think I was the only one of us to get "L.L. & P..." on mine instead of All the Best. Took me a moment to get it, but then I *glee* over the Trek geekery. * Best quote of the night?
bdbdb mentioned how this was going to replace George Clooney on her shelf and he was all "Fuck George Clooney!" He then back tracked and said he was a great guy, but it was just especially funny because she got the same response out of Capt. Fine when she mentioned something about Clooney to him. She's on a roll XDAny way, the theater was hot and stuffy so after some more celeb stalking we decided to leave.
All in all a great night and I hope that one day we can see him do some more theater with more than just a few lines! I bet it would be fantastic!

The set up was this woman, a writer and cancer patient is trying to write an article for In Style magazine about ten memorable moments or some other kind of fluff, and the magazine is going to interview her and her partner because they are a lesbian couple. It's about how they still don't have some of the rights that straight couples do, and how if someone talks to them so much of the conversation is as much about them being gay as anything else (like they can't talk about anything else).
ZQ played their son. He came in like the last 2 minutes or so and was all "Did you hide the picture of me in plaid?" and offered some moral support., and that's about it.

I left it unplugged overnight and it works fine now WTF. I think it just couldn't handle all the awesome and fainted.
I'm glad I'm not the only one who didn't get the one with the nuns.
I'm pretty sure the last one was also a play. It was on the list as a play. I'll have to look up whether Robert Gant is already married, I had a feeling he was.
Aw, I wish I'd stuck around and heard him go "fuck George Clooney!" It was so hot in there.
I read somewhere he's 6'3"? I don't think he's that tall. But now I don't see it, it's not on his Wikipedia page so maybe I misremembered. I reckon he's about 6'1" or 2". And very very thin! And his hair is pretty.
