14th November declared Leonard Nimoy day in Boston!

Yet another reason why I love this town!
Boston Mayor Tom Menino made it so today.

He tied it to the day of New England Fan Experience convention (see details here), which Leonard himself will attend on November 14th! Along with "Q" John De Lancie, Gareth David-Lloyd from Torchwood and other fine people.
According to this convention schedule, Nimoy will be having photo-ops from 11:30, autograph signing from 1-4PM, and then will hold Q&A panel from 5-6PM.

And I may not be able to go as I've only heard about this today... But maybe other people from Boston can? Maybe we can try to meet and go there?
Leonard Nimoy is in town, and on his day, come on, we should make it happen!

And maybe we can celebrate this event here, in this community tomorrow? We can start with this. :)


UPD: Nimoy also gave an interview to Boston Phoenix, and it appeared under a very appropriate title "Hot Vulcan". :)
He speaks about Three Men and a Baby, politics in Star Trek, Ballad of Bilbo Baggins and Barack Obama. Great piece!

Boston native Leonard Nimoy first appeared on national television’s Star Trek series as Spock in 1963, and now has 45 years later, returned to that character in a film of the same name; and

Whereas:
Leonard Nimoy has returned to Boston this weekend to appear at the New England Fan Experience a multi-genre event which is geared towards public interest in learning more about science fiction, popular culture, gaming, animation, plus science and technology; and

Whereas:
New England Fan Experience Panels, seminars, workshops and discussions offer a well rounded entertaining learning experience, as a program that benefits Boston’s people, young and old; and

Whereas:
This weekend’s New England Fan Experience represents a remarkably interesting gathering of some of Massachusetts’ finest actors and artists, including Leonard Nimoy, local author Wen Spenser, and published manga artist, Bettina Kukouski; and

Whereas:
The City of Boston takes great pride in the cultural contributions of those who create entertainment in modern media and popular culture in our city; NOW

Therefore,
I, Thomas M. Menino, Mayor of the City of Boston, do hereby proclaim today, November 14, 2009 to be

Leonard Nimoy Day

in the city of Boston.

(srsly, if Tennant was there as well, the world shouldn't have to worry about the whole LHC thing, the world would implode from AWESOME there and then)

I think he should visit the aquarium on Tuesday because I'll be working - just saying. I'll let him feed the sea turtles or something and would be WAY BETTER than suffering through Jeff Corwin's presence.

Hee, that's a smart move for Menino - costs him nothing but earns him love from thousands upon thousands of fans. But he must be a fan himself to think about it, so yeah, respect for the guy. :)

As for Star Wars - it's probably in the evening? And photo-ops are in the morning, till 12:30. And signing is done by 4. And it is all in downtown, walking distance...

This girl right here, yeah, born and raised baby! Sadly, I can not go tomorrow, the hefty hundred dollars just to get in and have either a pic taken with him or an autograph along with a guaranteed spot in the Q and A was way too high for me and hubby, but I am nonetheless proud to be from the same hometown as the original GQMF!!!
