Zoe @ Golden Globes

Okay, so Avatar won best picture drama, and I guess ST was shut out of noms all together. I know this gives me false hope that ST could win something because I felt it was such a better film but doesn't have the visual effects wow 'oh it took five years to make it' factor which I think is what really won it. We will see, mr oscar. We will see.

Zoe wore a Louis Vuitton dress and Brian Atwood “Wagner” pumps and Worthington didn't wear his boots. I think he got a pair of new shiny shoes that are now in rotation.

STO Question

Mods if this is a no-no, please let me know and I'll blast it outta here.  Also, sorry about the lack of tagging.  Wasn't sure how to code this one.

Anyway, I've seen a few other posts here about the new game and was wondering if anyone else has gotten a beta key and possibly logged on this weekend?  Any first impressions?  I've had lots of fun so far, and spent most of the weekend warping around the various systems and getting blasted to base particles by those pesky Klingons.  Still, I'm thinking this is one is a keeper for a while.

Also, does anyone know if there are any communities yet?

Geeks Give Back (And get a little fame too!)

Revel in all your glory!
Way to go peeps!

"In the past week, there have been a number of different fund raising efforts for disaster relief in Haiti, showcasing a global outpouring of generosity. One effort in particular caught my eye, however – the Livejournal community ontd_startrek (translation: oh no they didn’t), which managed to raise $15,000 in two days. Okay, so maybe it’s not exactly a serious fansite, boasting the tagline “Space: No Uglies” and featuring posts largely consisting of macros and capslock and fangirl worship of the GQMF team of Zachary Quinto and Chris Pine – but nothing wrong with that! And there’s 7,300 people (judging from the number of members of the community) who love Star Trek in a big CAPSLOCK way who managed to channel that into doing some good. Of course, they did get some Twitter love from Mr. Quinto himself out of it. Also, apparently they were running a friendly contest with ontd_ai (American Idol), and it looks like the Trek fans creamed them. Live long and prosper, guys."

I didn't think it was right to let MLK Day go by without honoring his contributions to Trek and Trek's contributions to the movement. Many have heard the anecdote about MLK urging Nichelle to stay on Star Trek despite gross unequal treatment, but you may not have heard the story from her own lips...

Here's a relevant section from the documentary, Bring Back Trek (but I *highly* suggest watching the whole thing!):

For those of you who were able to document your meetups, please post your pics and recaps here, or better yet link to a post in your own LJ so that the comment pages here don't break the internet.

Even if you didn't take any pictures, please feel free to recount the awesomeness of meeting with other GQMF's, any funny conversations or accidental meeting of other Star Trek geeks fans. lol

Punch it!

Pine and Munn ended.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Though they kept things private while dating this fall, Star Trek star Chris Pine and actress Olivia Munn have ended their romance, PEOPLE has confirmed.

The two kept their distance at the NY Times Style Magazine's Golden Globes cocktail party on Friday at the Chateau Marmont penthouse in West Hollywood. A source later told PEOPLE they've split up.

Munn and Pine, both 29, appeared cozy just two weeks ago, when they were spotted at The Woods in L.A., sipping cocktails and giggling together in the dimly-lit bar.

I kinda feel bad for them, at least now we know why he's been looking sad lately.
Edit: Now someone needs to write a Zachary comforting Chris fic ;)

Alrighty my fellow GQMFers, it's about that time once again! Time for an Omegle Party Post! After this weekend's success, and the fact that we hadn't had one in a while, I thought that I'd jump in and get the ball rolling. So, usual Omegle rules apply:

1. Try and make your opening statement Trek related. Simple "GQMF?" always brings the lulz. As does quoting any of the movies/television episodes.
2. No pic/gif spams
3. Post your omegle logs!

Thanks, eames!

And thank you to muffinman_owns for pointing out that:
Can I just add that playing along for a little bit will make any GQMFs day? =D No need to go right out and ask if they're a GQMF! Let the lulzy logs grow! After hilarity has subsided, pull out the "GQMF?"

And if Omegle's not your thing, gqmf's are also having fun in the ontdstartrek room on AIM.
