Chris Pine says he hasn’t heard about filming in January; Wants 'a shot' at Uhura in the next film.

Despite recent reports from Comic-Con that filming for Star Trek 2 is slated for January, star Chris Pine, who plays Captain James T. Kirk, claims he's in the dark about the dates. When about the shooting schedule for the film, Pine said in an interview Tuesday with OnTheRedCarpet.com, "I don’t know. I haven’t heard. I’m always the last person to find out. It’s sometime next year I know. I don’t know if it’s January.”

So what does the leading man know? What he'd love to see happen for Kirk in the next film. "Kirk’s got a great sense of humor and I would love to see that explored more," he told reporter Rachel Smith in a rehearsal room for the play "The Lieutenant of Inishmore." He stars in the Los Angeles run of the show as Padraic, a terrorist in Ireland. Pine also remarked that he hoped in the next movie Kirk and another member of the Enterprise crew get a chance at romance. "I want at least one shot at Ms. [Zoë] Saldaña. I mean please, please God have mercy." In the film Saldaña plays Uhura, who was last seen romantically linked to Zachary Quinto's Spock. Pine jokes, "Maybe her in her little Avatar outfit."

Since Star Trek took off as a summer box office smash of last year, Pine has got a full schedule on his hands which includes recently wrapping up Unstoppable with director Tony Scott and Denzel Washington. "To work with two guys that have been at the top of their game for so long was such a big thrill for me," Pine said.

ZQ also doesn't know for sure when ST XII starts filming, guesses "next year at this time"

Though Zachary Quinto is at San Diego Comic-Con to promote "Lucid," the first comic from his production company, Before the Door Pictures, which debuted at the Con, he was willing to shed some light on the upcoming "Star Trek 2."

There isn't much known about the sequel, though writers Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman told MTV News that they're "making significant process on the story." Quinto, who was joined by "Lucid" creator and author Michael McMillian at the convention, said he is ready for anything the writers throw at him.
