At the Trek convention in Las Vegas this last weekend, some really awesome cosplayers stopped to have their photos taken... and had no clue that someone was stalking them.

Source has the full-size pictures, as well as some reaction shots when they realized who'd been lurking in the background of their photos. Shat is such a wonderful troll.

What I wonder is, how did he even get out where the fans are without being mobbed and having countless panties flung at him?
Remember a few weeks back when we told you Karl Urban promised us HIS Judge Dredd wouldn't make us puke in our popcorn? Well, it was nice to hear that, but there was still no OFFICIAL confirmation that he was going to play Dredd. But now we DO have confirmation—and it's coming directly from the mouths of the movie's producers.

Andrew Macdonald and Allon Reich confirmed that Urban was indeed cast as Dredd yesterday evening during BFI's Movie-Con III Q & A, currently taking place in London. And we think that it's always nice to hear these things from people other than the actors.

"There's been a change in comic-book movies; they were treated unseriously and now they're treated seriously," said Macdonald. "We've cast a guy called Karl Urban to play Dredd. We'll be shooting in Johannesburg, it's being directed by Pete Travis, we're shooting with the people who did District 9—and if we get it right, Alex has a couple of ideas for other stories as well. It's not based on any one comic, and John Wagner is involved in every decision."

Macdonald also talked about the feel and tone of the new movie:

"The main thing about Dredd is that it's a fantastic comic that was completely messed up 20 years ago. Our idea is to make a very hard, R-rated, gritty, realistic movie of Dredd in Megacity, so we've got to get the tone right. He's not going to take off his helmet. His bike is going to feel real. He's going to hit people and it's going to feel real."

Urban may very well be on his way to becoming one of those actors we see everywhere in action and sci-fi movies, having already starred in such films as The Lord of the Rings trilogy, The Chronicles of Riddick, Doom and Pathfinder .

One thing for sure is that Karl Urban is a busy man, since he's set to appear in two highly anticipated movies by the end of this year—Red and Priest.

Are you psyched about Urban's casting as Dredd? And what do you think of the direction the producers intend to take?

Karl and his gun thank you for your time.
